Forrest

Forrest is one of my soulmates. He has always been his own person. As a kid, he'd dump his water bucket and wear it on his head. Born January 27, 1999, Forrest is a true Aquarian - always a little different. He enjoys looking at things upside down. He's a pretty mellow guy, only afraid of loud noises like tractors, and he is very tolerant of people. Many times when resting, he hums a meditative "Ohmmmm".

Forrest has very striking markings, and has been compared to Cary Grant by one admirer. In November 2001, he suffered a broken leg and despite surgery, he has not regained full use of the leg. His disability does not seem to phase Forrest in the least.

Forrest has a special fenced area and stall, which is surrounded by our pastures, and protected by our guard llama. Due to his injury, his veterinarian recommended that Forrest be confined to a 1/4 acre area. Forrest sometimes shares his area with Pokey, our mini-Nubian goat.

Forrest, like many full-sized dairy goat wethers, would have been sold as a slaughter animal when he was about a year old if he hadn't been purchased by SciWorks Science Center in February 1999. When the science center closed its barnyard in 2003 due to financial losses, Forrest and his goat friends found their permanent home at Signal Hollow.
