Inca

Inca the llama arrived at our farm on July 11, 2004. We adopted him from the Southeast Llama Rescue. He is a gorgeous, heavy-wooled llama with fine, dark brown wool.

The first year that Inca lived with us he taught us about "Acute Heat Stress" in llamas. He used to be a real scrapper, and would run around and pick fights with the other llamas no matter the weather. When he played during the hot, humid summer, he would sometimes become overheated and we had to dump cold water on him and give him electrolytes, and close him up in the shade in front of a fan.

Inca has matured into a sweet guy who loves to stand at attention on the tall spots in the pasture. He tends to get into predicaments - ie, Inca is the llama who invariably gets stuck in the tape fence, or gets bitten by a snake.
