Jesse

This photo shows Jesse demonstrating his "Flying Nun" impression. Jesse, born on March 8, 1996, is King of the goat herd. Even the llamas respect him, and we must separate him at feeding time, or no one's food is safe. He measures 39" tall at the withers, the tallest goat I've ever seen.

Jesse won his position not just by the power of his brawn. He is a whizz at opening latches and is quite dexterous with his mouth. He has locked me into the feed barn a time or two.

This handsome fellow is gentle and patient with people (most of the time), and is tolerant and sweet with children. He lived his first 8 years at SciWorks Science Center, serving as a goat diplomat to humankind. Thousands of times during his reign at SciWorks barnyard he stood willingly next to the barnyard fence to allow children to pet him. He represents his kind well.
